The Agreement

That she would manage the account responsibly, always pay the bill on time and pay it off as soon as possible.

In six (6) months time she was over the $12,500 limit (due to the transfer of debt) and accumulated an additional $4,000 at Banana Republic, Bloomingdale's and J. Crew to name a few.  By 2003 she had mismanaged the account so badly by missing payments and not paying down the overage that the card company closed the account.
My credit has been negatively affected, as has my pocket book.  I have paid her bill on at least three different occasions ($300 or more each time, some of which she has yet to pay back) to keep it from being late and accruing penalty charges.  I am also unable to open a new card with a lower rate to assist myself in paying down my own debt due to the huge balance she hasn’t paid.  In addition, my other credit card companies have raised their interest rates because of her activities.

Every month I wait to see if she’ll pay the bill on time or at all — or perhaps I’ll receive another call from the card company telling me she missed last month and $600 is due in five days.

I am stretched beyond my means and in a complete financial bind because of this.
